Eat Wisely Makes Everything Easy

After you have finally escaped from stressful situation such as having a big examination, waiting for promotion, and so on, relaxation is so much needed. Having good food is one of the best ways you can reduce your tensions.

High-fiber is helpful in preventing late-night binging. Some examples of healthy comfort food include baked sweet potatoes, sauté vegetables, and brown rice. By increasing your intake of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, you can boost your immune system. Kelp, Kombu, and watercress should also be included in a diet to reduce stress as they help to support the thyroid gland.

Herbal tea such as chamomile and green tea provide nutrients that have a sedative calming affect on the nervous system. Plenty of tea should be included in any diet to reduce stress levels. Try drinking a cup before you go to bed to relax you and get good night sleep.

By the way, there are some foods you have to avoid. High-fat foods such as meat or cheese dishes and many baked goods can thicken our blood, which, in turn, makes us feel tired, even lethargic. Even just one high-fat meal can increase our risk of a heart attack. Caffeine, many of us deal with a stress-induced lack of sleep by turning to coffee, and colas. Cutting back on caffeine can help with both sleeping problems.

Sugar, as a carbohydrate, sugar tends to calm us. The problem with sugar is that it's a simple carbohydrate so it enters and leaves the bloodstream rapidly. On the other hand, complex carbohydrates such as pasta, beans, and lentils, the starchy parts of foods soothe without bringing us down.

Choose wisely, a diet to reduce stress is easy to do, just keep in mind the following: Eat as many raw and natural foods as possible and cut down on refined and processed foods. Then you can gain low stress and good health.
