Element-Based Diet: An Oriental Balance

Explore an oriental alternative way for eating based on four elemental characteristics of your body. In the East, particularly India, people believe that human body is composed with the four basic elements; earth, water, wind, and fire. But there is only one basic element that dominates each body. To get the healthy body, these elements need to be balanced.

According to Thai traditional belief, the element of each person depends on their star signs or birthdates.

The Earth element is normally found in those who were born under the star sign of Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo. People who have earth element as their based element in the bodies have strong figure and strong muscle.

The Water element is believed to be found in those who were born under the star sign of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. This element involves with all of the liquid in the body; sputum, saliva, urine etc. People who have water element in the bodies would have soft and smooth skin as their skins are always moist. However, they would have some problem on often swollen body problem.

The Wind element is believed to be found among people born under the star sign of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. This element involves with the breathing, the blood circulation, the emotion controlling, and the cell movement.

The Fire element is believed to be found in those who were born under the star sign of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. It involves with metabolism, food digestion, the work of brain cell.
Element-Based Diet

The Earth element needs something oily, sweet and salty like mushroom, milk, banana, spaghetti, taro, potato etc. These kinds of foods would make the body stronger. For the water element, people in this type should eat something sour or bitter such as tomato, lemon, orange, pineapple etc. The Wind element needs the hot and spicy food such as chilies, lemongrass, pepper, garlic etc. And the Fire element needs cold and bitter food such as all of fresh vegetable, especially cucumber to cool down the temper in the body.
The benefits of eating element-based food

According to the Eastern belief, pick the food type and taste according to the individual based element would help balance the body. It is believed that the based element of each body dominates the system of the body. To make other elements in the body work properly in the balance way, people should consider on what they eat. The food which matches with their type of based element would help balance the system.
